Only a few days after opening the focus and the feeling is similar to that of a child running on the beach. However, when I think about the daily schedule, I kind of pull myself together and look for ways to steal even an hour to go out again, see a friend of mine and talk to her, without a screen separating us.

The only way I could do it was to combine a late lunch with work outside the office and I did it. So I found myself in the South, specifically in Glyfada. The appointment is understood to have been given to Artemis 1 and more specifically to “Paradosiako“, which arrived from Thessaloniki. A well-known haunt of Aristotelous for those who have had a good time in the co-capital and beyond. Now, she also arrived in Athens and with a friend who has spent her student years in Thessaloniki and I have a weakness for her, we couldn’t but give the first date after quarantine there.

Late lunch

On the day of our date I didn’t have time to eat lunch. So, I ordered a Scrocchiarella, a specialty at Paradosiako, and a refreshing salad. Pasta salad to be exact, with vegetables and chicken. A safe tasting option for hot days when you want to eat something light and filling.

Obviously, I didn’t eat them all by myself. Elena (my friend) was tempted and kept me company. Besides, I had to make room for the delicacies lined up behind me in the shop window.

I would like to dwell a little on Scrocchiarella. We could say that this is the sophisticated form of pizza that no matter which Paradosiako you find yourself in, it will be treated appropriately for you. They make it at that time, with fresh ingredients and it is delicious. In combination with the macaroni salad, they are an ideal duo for late lunch.

We accompanied our meal with freshly squeezed juices from Paradosiako, because it was late afternoon and I at least had already drunk 2 coffees since the morning. At Paradosiako you can find many healthy options for quick meals, at all hours of the day, and the juices could not be missing.

The dessert

I will say the cliché, that I try to avoid sweets. But the showcase of sweet options was beyond me. Muffins in a bunch of alternatives, fruity cheesecakes, delicious donuts, classic and beloved chocolate log, cookies and a bunch more options were available to us. And because as the wise people say “show me your girlfriend…”, after our quick meal, we also tried the sweets.

Red velvet for me and lemon cake for Elena. Some still went into the box for home.

The “yummy” bonus

Paradosiako – Thessaloniki and…. From this triptych, obviously, the bougatsa cannot be missing. Hot, sprinkled with baking powder and cinnamon and cut into small pieces, it came before us. Impossible not to try. From the smell alone you taste it, you understand its deliciousness. My palate confirms it.
